When I woke up this morning,
I heard the newsmen scream:
"Peace in our time is coming!"
I thought it was a dream!
Maybe I'm wrong; maybe I'm crazy;
I've heard it all before!
When people are talking of peace and safety,
It's time to get ready for war!

When I walked out this morning,
I saw the headlines read:
"Peace in our time is finished!
The world is gonna bleed!"
Maybe I'm wrong -- but the world is crazy;
There must be something more!
I've been running around with no keys in my pockets;
Is there an open door?

Are you ready to make a new start?
Are you ready for a change in your heart?

When I woke up this morning,
I heard the preacher plead:
"Peace in your heart is coming!
Just say that you believe!"
Maybe I'm wrong -- but they're all crazy;
Belief won't feed the poor!
But when you have everything but faith inside you,
Well then, who's starving more?
